Chemical Technology,
Inc
Chemical Technology, Inc. (CTI) was
formed in 1985 to provide unique and proprietary adhesives and coatings. The chemists who started CTI recognized the need
for special adhesives, which their current employer was not interested in developing. Recognizing the opportunity, they established CTI.
Currently, CTI has two manufacturing
locations in Detroit with 60,000 square feet of manufacturing. Sales are approximately $4 million per year with a
staff that includes chemists and a Ph.D. each with numerous years of experience. In addition, CTI is negotiating to establish a
separate R & D laboratory to expand its capabilities in developing products and
analytical instrumentation. This step is
being undertaken due to the numerous trouble-shooting activities in our customers'
manufacturing operations which need this type of service capability.
The current line of CTI products
includes adhesives ranging from automotive adhesive to industrial adhesive, as well as
specialty adhesives, conductive coatings, specialty coatings, cleaners and mold releases. Each is designed in many cases to act as a
complimentary product to another. For
example, one client required a mold release for a SRIM part. No adhesive would perform over the part and
numerous submissions by a number of adhesive companies failed to successfully bond the
composite. CTI developed a combination of a
mold release and an adhesive which bonded and thus eliminated the cleaning step needed for the prior products. This is an example of the technology CTI can
provide for its clientsperformance at optimum profitability.
CTIs approach to applied R &
D has proven to be invaluable to many of its customers, including numerous manufacturers
of automotive components, industrial fabrications and trade sale items.
